Large eat-in kitchen, fully equipped with full sized gas stove, refrigerator and double sink. Two large living/bed rooms on either side, one with wood stove, one with fireplace. Two bathrooms and private bedrooms. Comfortable beds.

The cabin is private, but near a small group of summer cottages mostly occupied by the families that own them. The community is friendly, but not intrusive. There is a lovely community church 5 minutes walk away.

In high season there are families with some children in residence. Before June 15th and after September 1st it is very quiet. Complete solitude and sublimely beautiful natural habitat is always a short walk away.

Path to tranquility!

 

Tide pooling is excellent right out in front of the cabin. Fresh fish, clams, lobsters and crab meat are available from local fishermen.

The cove formed by this sand spit, about 10 minutes walk from the cabin, empties completely at low tide. It is an excellent birding site.

Native roses, like this rosa rugosa, abound in the area. There are black spruce woods, white cedar swamps, and blueberry barrens as well as fresh water and brackish ponds that attract migrating waterfowl.

Flowers

 

The view south out to open water. The chain of islands across the mouth of the bay frequently have seals sunning on them. These are visible from the shore on a public trail in the refuge. Return to top
